National Schools Commissioner, DfE

Dominic Herrington is the National Schools Commissioner (NSC). He was appointed on 23 April 2019, after holding the position on an interim basis since September 2018.

Prior to his appointment, Dominic was the Regional Schools Commissioner (RSC) for SE England and South London.

His previous roles include:

  • Director of the Academies Group at the Department for Education
  • working at Warwick and Birmingham Universities
  • working as a TEFL teacher in Spain

In addition to his responsibilities as NSC, he is also a vice chair of governors at a primary school.
